What are your aspirations for the Philippines?
In this post, we gathered some responses from our fellow Filipinos who continue to dream for the country. For why won't the aspiration for a better future be a form of love and nationalism for our motherland? Rizal had long ago, written works that speak of the issues and concerning the social millieu in the Philippines. However, no matter how horrible and miserable our past may have been, our hero had not forgotten to leave encouraging messages with a gleam of hope. About a century later, at this point of history, our nation could continue writing about our problems, our present, our future, and our own story of hope for the Philippines in our own Freedom Wall.

"I hope that one day this nation’s healthcare system will finally be able to care of our citizens. I advocate for the health of all. To see people suffering and dying due to the cost of treatment, medications, and procedures is disheartening. People’s health and safety must be given the spotlight to address these issues." (Kerr)

"My biggest hope and advocacy for the Philippines is the development of a national educational system that genuinely values truth, justice, inclusivity, and respect, and that sincerely and effectively promotes the holistic development and empowerment of Filipinos, not just as future members of the working class, but also as unique individuals and as active, critical-thinking members of the nation and even of the world." (P.C)

"I hope Filipinos destigmatize mental health soon, and with that also recognize that mental health is not only for the privileged. It is not a disease of the rich, and we do not afford the masses the ability to take care of their mental wellbeing. I hope people become more open and willing to start dialogues in regards to this. I also hope that the discussion about LGBTQ+ starts to center around human rights and not spiritual beliefs." (Lucy)

"I hope we can fight against corruption." (Ruthell)

These responses come from people of different backgrounds. Despite not knowing each other and tackling different dimensions of issues, there is a common desire that links them all: a better society for our beloved country. It seems that we do not think far from Rizal's worldview and that we, like our hero, speaks from the same thread of sincere love and nationalism for our country.
